Title: Re: 72 Hour Kit Equipment List Post by: Nicole on September 26, 2006, 09:41:34 AM Our family stores all of our individual 72 hr kits in back packs on wheels. This way, even our littlest ones can at least attempt to pull their own. If not, it can be put on mom or dads back. Also, another tip is to pack your 72 hour kits so that if fro some reason someone in your family needed to be separated from you, the could still thrive. My kids bags all include all their own food, water, clothes, and individual personal needs.
We store the remainder of our stored kits in waterproof or rubbermaid containers. These are also easily transported if necessary, and packed not too heavy so even i can lift them! Also, I have a baby back pack (one that is primarily used for hiking) in my storage area until my is a little older, or too big to fit in it. This way, in case we have to walk a long distance, my hands can be free and my baby can be carried. Title: Re: 72 Hour Kit Equipment List Post by: slhishere on September 27, 2006, 08:21:50 AM we do the backpacks on wheels, too! I also have a square collapsible cart with wheels for some of the other stuff.
we included a fleece sleeping bag that I got at Walmart for $10 in my boy's packs. They are lightweight, roll up really small, and two people could easily fit in them if necessary and we can put them inside our bigger sleeping bags or mylar sleeping bags if necessary and double up. Stacy |
