Ok - I am going crazy.  I had some fruit ripen too quickly and now I have fruit flies up to my eyeballs!  Anyone have any good tricks to get rid of them?  Help!!!!!!!!!

Why can't all my work be as much fun as shopping?

Afraid the best thing you can do is clean up all the offending fruit and wait for them to die.  Their life span is short... only about 24 hours, so as long as they have nothing to eat or breed in, ie ripe fruit, the problem should go away within a few days. Best of luck!

I am sorry, we had an experience with overripe pineapple and fruit flies. No good....
To add to what MissTristyn said, we made a few of these traps:
A bowl or two as needed filled with 1/2 quart water, 2 Tablespoons sugar, 2 Tablespoons vinegar and a couple drops of dish soap.
We placed them around the kitchen. This seems to expedite the process, as well as bleaching out your drains, when we researched it, it seemed that they would breed and lay eggs in damp places.
Good Luck!

To try and avoid the fruit flies I started trying to keep most of my fresh fruit in the fridge.  I know it is not always possible to get it all in there, but it also slows the ripening process so we can enjoy it longer.  Smiley  HTH
