Is Macey's typically the best place to get 5 gallon buckets and the gamma lids?

Maceys sometimes includes these in their midnight madness sales for amazing prices.  I'll ask our prepardness specialist what she thinks.  Smiley

It seems like the gamma lids at macey's are 6.99-8.99 per lid (one of those prices), and at Walmart the lids are 4.32 or something like that. This is the best price i've found. Buckets are 4 something at walmart too.

Oreos are a SURVIVAL item in my world!

Walmart has started providing several preparedness items including the Gamma Lids - they have been about $4.50 or so with tax.  I have never seen Maceys that low - even on a preparedness sale.  Walmart is kind of iffy on availability these days for preparedness items so grab them while you can.

Buckets have been on sale there as well, though they are a lower quality, not as heavy duty as some of the other retail outlets.  I would not pay more than $4 for the thinner, lower quality bucket - but will pay as much as $7 for the heavy duty 6 gallon buckets.

Hope this helps!

A good price for the 55 gallon drums is $42 or less.  A great price would be $35.  Maceys grocery store sometimes has them for that price, but I have seen them recently at the Walmarts in Lindon and American Fork for the same price.

There are some sources that sell used barrels (usually white or clear) that have stored cola syrup but I have found that even with careful cleaning, I have still been able to taste the syrup.  Those sell sometimes for as low as $15 or $20.

Standard dish soap is just fine to clean the buckets out with if they are new.  If they are used, a mixture of water and bleach - this mixture can be used to clean large water barrels as well (1/8 cup household unscented liquid bleach for every 1/2 gallon of HOT water).

Try calling Industrial Container and Supply. They distribute to these other stores but they also sell to the public. They are the cheapest I have found. 801-972-1561
