Hey I was just wondering, with all you pregnant ladies out there, if you could guide me to a good OB/GYN or Midwife. What does everyone prefer, an OB/GYN or a Midwife? I had an OB/GYN with my daughter and I wouldn't mind using one again, just not him. I thought he was rude and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. It seemed like he didn't care about my concerns. Any suggestions would be fantastic! TIA

I am in Provo but will most likely be moving somewhere in Eagle Mountain or Saratoga Springs area.

I live in SS, but there really isn't an ob out here that I know of unless you count the regular dr's who will do both - I drive to AF and its totally worth it you have to drive there for the closest hospital to deliver anyways if you move to EM or SS- I used someone else and then switched to these guys - cause I really didn't like my last one, these guys were actually refered to me through a lot of people h live out here -their names are dr melendez, dr lameroux, dr aagard - I don't have the phone number handy but they should be in your insurance provider books, if not lt me know and I'll get you a number, they have other dr's there - but I like the 3 of them, if your pregnant you will rotate who you get each visit - but then you could choose whose personality you like the best - but they are all nice and gentle Smiley

I had my 5th baby last year and the doctor who delivered my first four children was no longer delivering babies. For my 5th baby I switched to Lind, Lamoreaux, Melendez, and Aagard in AF upon recommendations from more than one acquaintance. I really, really liked them and the way their practice is set up. I am hoping that I won't need an OB again, but if I did, I would definitely go back to them. Their number is 756-9635 if you decide to give them a try.

I am currently pg with my fourth and I am using a midwife. Bridgette at Better Birth in Orem (801) 225-5668 and I am delivering at BellaNatal Birthing Suite in Orem (801) 222-9752.  I love their approach to pregnancy and birth as it is natural, loving and very empowering to Mothers and healthy for babies. I have had two hospital births and one birth home birth and I am repeating my birth home experience because it was so positive and wonderful. If a facility had been available for my last hospital delivery I would have chosen it for that one as well.  Good luck and happy pushing!

It depends on what you're looking for. Midwives are for normal, low-risk, healthy pregnancies and they cannot perform c-sections. And if you're diabetic, have high blood pressure or heart problems, the CNM will turn you over to an OB/GYN. Usually, doctors are present only for the actual delivery of the baby and periodic checks through labor. Midwives are typically present through the duration of labor and childbirth. You may want to choose a practice that has both doctors and midwives and meet both and then you can gradually decide which you like better. You may want to write down your wishes/birth plan for pregnancy and delivery and see which model of care they fall into.

A lot of people love the doctors at Legacy OB/GYN in AF. I had Dr. Watabe who was very nice and sincere and then hired a doula, and I'd recommend him for the OB/GYN route, but if I went natural again, I'd probably go with a midwife. HTH

I went to the Melendez, Lamoreaux, Aagard, Lind practice for one check-up before switching to Legacy OB/GYN (both in AF).  Both practices seem great and the doctors are nice, my husband just didn't like the first practice's billing method (estimated amount you will owe after insurance pays must be paid before due date in monthly payments) since I am due next year and it wouldn't allow us to take advantage of pre-tax deduction through our cafeteria plan for the monthly payments made this year as our elected amount is already mostly used up.  Legacy requires the estimated amount after insurance due before your due date also, but they will let you wait and make one lump payment up to 3 weeks before your due date.  That works better for us since that will allow us to wait until 2009 to pay and our elective ammount for our cafeteria plan will be able to be calculated to include the cost of having a baby.

The nice thing about Melendez, Lamoreaux, Aagard, Lind is that you can rotate who you see so you can get to know all of them, not knowing who will actually end up delivering your baby.  At Legacy, you see one doctor throughout your entire pregnancy, and then if they aren't available when you deliver, you end up with one of the other doctors in the practice that you haven't met.

I went to the Lind/Lamoreaux/aagard/melendez/ollerton group for my last child.  I am a labor and delivery nurse and so I know a lot of the drs and get to see how all of them practice.  I really liked them and i feel that they will listen to you and help you achieve whatever birth experience it is that you are looking for.

Thank you thank you! I am glad to say that you all have really helped me. I'm going to go with the most common the Melendez group. Thanks again!

I know you have all ready decided on a group but I just wanted to put a plug in for that same group of doctors. I have delivered two babies with those doctors. Both have been pretty tricky deliveries and they have done an awesome job. Dr. Melendez delivered my baby last December who got stuck and almost died. If Dr. Melendez wasn't such a great doctor and hadn't thought so quickly my baby would have died. They are great!

I went with the Certified Nurse Midwives at Timpanogos Women's Health Care for all three of my girls and have been very happy.  I loved having a CNM who was with me through all of my labor.  I rotated through and met all 6 of the them before labor and delivery.  They were supportive of both natural labor and having an epidural.  I highly recommend them.

Just another positive response to the Lind, Lameroux, Melendez, etc... group.  I have used them for 6 years now and really do highly reccomend them.  they are all great, even the 2 newer doctors.  I have noticed with this third pregnancy I have only met with each of the new doctors once but every other visit has been with my 2 previous delivery doctors (Lind, Aagard) which I love since I feel like they really do know me individually.  I would take any to deliver though Smiley I trust them all.  Just to warn you though....be prepared to wait a while since they seem SO busy lately.  I try and schedule for one of the first appointments in the morning (8:45ish) and that way you don't have to wait nearly as long (unless there are a lot of deliveries).  Good luck!
