Hey just wondering if anyone knows of a cheep place to get an eye exam and contacts. I have heard Cost Co. is about $250 for an eye exam and a year and a half of contacts. And America's best is $212 for an exam and a year of contacts. I'm not too concerned if it is more than a year since my vision will probably change. But who knows maybe it will stabilize. My vision is way blurry now and I REALLY need to get new contacts. Thanks all!

I have been very happy with Wal Mart.  Good prices on the exam and the contacts.

I have worked at a Walmart Vision Center and a for a Private Practice doctor.  Walmart in my opinion is your best bet when it comes to cost and service.  You can get the same service with out the cost.  In fact I saw many people pay more just to use there vision insurance when they could have gone to Walmart and received the same contacts and service for less.  Just so you know a lot of the frames offered at Walmart are made by the same manufacture that you would get at a Private Practice.  For example Walmart's "No Boundaries" could be made by the same company that puts out a fashion frame such as Armani, Guess, DKNY, Calvin Klein, etc.  Walmart also tries to stay pretty competitive with it's prices.  If you don't feel comfortable with a contact the doctor has tried on you let him know.  A lot of times people have to try several brands of contacts just to get the right fit and feel.  I wear a different brand in each eye because of the clarity and comfort of one brand works in one eye but not the other.   I hope this helps.  If you have any other questions about the differences I would be happy to help.

I go to America's Best and if you get the eye care club for 3 years you pay $99 and you get 5 free eye exams during your 3 years in the club. If you get the cheapest contact (sofmed) you can get them for around $13 a box(if you have them price match costco- they'll price match anyone), plus you get 10% off frames.  HTH
