I freeze yogurt all the time.  We love to make fruit smoothies with frozen fruit (for example, if we don't eat the bananas quick enough and they start to get too ripe, we just throw them in a ziploc in the freezer).  The frozen yogurt is perfect for smoothies.

Dumb question for you: Do you freeze the banana in the skin or do you take it off?  I've frozen the whole banana (no ziploc) & then tried to thaw it and it oozed and looked gross so I threw it away. How do you defrost it?

There is a video available from Good Morning America where Sara Moulton talks about freezing.

I take them out of the skin and freeze them in ziploc bags. Then defrost them by just laying then on the counter until they are thaw. HTH.

Frozen and thawed bananas are ALWAYS mushy but they are superb for banana bread or dessert items like it

I freeze them whole in the skin to use for banana bread.  I thaw them on the counter or on defrost in the microwave.  When I am ready to put them on the batter, I cut off the top and let them slide out.  The kids love to squeeze them out and watch them plop into the bowl. Cheesy

If I a freezing them for smoothies, I peel and slice them on a cookie sheet and freeze them.  When they are frozen, I put them into freezer bags and then I take out what I need and put the rest back in the freezer.
