We got hit with the dreaded flu over the weekend, and I just wanted to post how much easier it has been because of our level of preparedness.  Thanks to couponing, sales, and the Shopping Wizard, I am well stocked on everything from medicine to juice to disinfectant cleaners.

BTW...anyone have any ideas on what a sick child can do to fill a week or more of being quarantined besides watching T.V.?

You can find fun learning computer games they can play alone or with a parent... art projects-we recently just did one where we found lots of fall leaves in different colors/shapes then drew a tree trunk on paper and glued all the leaves on the page and we also painted the really small pumpkins... you can also do a "read-a-thon" ... just some suggestions that will maybe help!?

Here's a recipe for Bathtub finger paints - it's easy to make and the kids clean the bath tub without even knowing it!!!

2 Tablespoons liquid soap
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
drop of food coloring

Mix ingredients together for each color. Covered mixture with last for a few weeks.
(Recipe from The Everything Toddler Activities Book)

Also a learning-to-read website that keeps my 4 year old busy when I need to get things done is:

My kids love to read and be read to, word searches, dot to dot, Lego's, water colors, mazes and crafts.  They also have AWESOME imaginations!  They can play for HOURS!  They love to make tents with chairs and play house, bank, doctor, store etc.  Good Luck!  I hope they feel better soon!

Thank goodness for SavvyShopperDeals!  I love being prepared for whatever comes my way (hopefully just hungry and sometimes dirty kids! Wink Cheesy)

If you have any boxes lying around: When my girls were home last week for fall break they found a box and had me cut out a square in it for them so they could use it as a television.  They had a great time playing with their "TV" and using their dolls as the actors.  It was like a little mini puppet stage for them.

I'm sure there are tons of Halloween activities and printables you can find on the Internet, too. Good luck!
