Hey Ladies!

I bought some Pork Spareribs from Winco this week, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the best way to cook them... I've never cooked them before, nor have I ever cooked ANY ribs!  So, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Smiley

I don't have a specific recipe, but my husband is from the south and he likes them slow-cooked on low in a crockpot smuthered in barbeque sauce for 5 or 6 hours.

I have done them a couple of different ways.

The first time was very similar to this recipe: All Recipes Simple BBQ Ribs - Boil/Oven Cook

Last time I did this: All Recipes Grill/Oven Ribs

I sometimes attend Dream Dinners and had their St. Louis Smoke House Ribs and they were FANTASTIC!!  Good luck!!

That's how I do it too and adding a little liquid smoke makes it even better!

I LOVE Spareribs!  Grew up with them regularly in our home, so I make the sauce from scratch.  However, I have found that just covering them with some of the A1 Marinade, Kraft BBQ sauce, etc., etc., in my crockpot for the day makes most people quite happy and the house smell wonderful.  You can serve with rice to soak up the sauce.   Cheesy

Also, down south they will serve them with a big thick slice of home made bread and beans - sometimes with a sweet slaw.

(And remember to watch for the coupons for the sauces - in July we got a lot for FREE up to $.49 per bottle!  With $.99/lb spareribs, that makes a great inexpensive meal!!!)  Wink

Enjoy!

This summer was my first time cooking ribs. You could cook these in a crock pot or oven instead of the grill, but this recipe is soooo good (it does take some work-but it's pretty easy-esp. for a 1st timer like me). Also, I used just regular mild chili sauce instead of the sweet-my DH likes it more spicy. I also used country style ribs. I found this recipe on a blog.

Here is how you make them:
1.   Cut 4-lbs of pork spare ribs into serving-size pieces and wrap them in a double layer of foil. Place them in a 350? oven for about 60-80 minutes. This will get it cooked most of the way and ready for the grill.
2.   Next, you need to make the marinade.
     a.   Measure about 2/3 cup Asian sweet chili sauce into a bowl. (Most of these measurements are approximations. I don't use measuring cups very often.)
     b.   Add 1/4 cup ketchup to the bowl.
     c.   Mix in 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce.
     d.   Add 1/4-1/3 cup Soy Sauce to the mixture. (If you love the taste of Soy Sauce, use more. I usually stick closer to 1/4 c.)
     e.   Mix in 1 tsp. dry mustard and 2-4 cloves of crushed garlic. (If you like garlic like I do...use all 4!)
     f.   Add pepper to taste. I like a lot of pepper.

Place pork ribs in a plastic bag and pour marinade over them. Let sit in the fridge for 24 hours. (Or...at LEAST 6.)
3. Cook ribs on a grill for 30 minutes. (Flip them about every 5 minutes, basting with leftover marinade.) You can do this in the oven too, but it doesn't get that smoky grill taste that I LOVE.
4. ENJOY!

If your really busy you can just pick your favorite BBQ sauce and pour it over the ribs. Place in the oven covered with foil for 3 hours at 350 degrees and they are great. With this method you can put some bake potatoes in the oven with an hour left. Add a delicious salad and dinners made easy. Cheesy

(You can cook them at a higher degree and they will cook faster. Or leave them in longer and they become so tender they fall apart. This how my husband likes them.)

Well,

I made them, in my crock pot, with BBQ sauce, and they looked REALLY good, but because I'm pregnant I couldn't bring myself to taste them.  My stomach just turned at the thought.  Darn it!   confused3 confused4

I'll have to ask DH how they turned out when he has them for lunch tomorrow.

I agree with everyone else who said to leave them in the crockpot all day with BBQ sauce, but we add soda (root beer, cream soda, or dr. pepper) and the flavor is amazing, plus it makes the meat REALLY tender and juicy.  Just my two cents!

And one more thing - this goes for ribs or anything at all that you want to marinade:

Use your FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer!  You can marinade in minutes what would normally take overnight - Yummmy!!!  Cheesy
Just set your table or do something else while they are marinading for 10 minutes and you are ready to cook them.  Wink

Method:  You can place your sauce and then the meat in a bag or one of the vacuum containers - even a mason jar if necessary.  Just vacuum seal it.  If you have an old vacuum sealer, be sure to cut the vacuum before you get any of the sauce up into your machine.  The newer machines allow you to control the vacuum much better. Awesome!
PS - Sally, sorry you did not get a chance to enjoy them yet!!!  Cry
