I have two weddings coming up. One in Jan and one in April. I need to do these as inexpensively as possible. The theme for the one in Jan. is "Winter in Italy". It will be held at an LDS church house in the gym. I would welcome any and ALL ideas you may have. Thank-you in advance!

Decorate with white Christmas lights, and buy them after Christmas, or the day after Thanksgiving... you can do different things with them, but still use them for both receptions. For mine we strung them across the gym and it makes a nice false ceiling, you can also drape fabric through them to make it more enclosed.

I've seen this done aan it can look awesome.  You can ask neighbors to borrow--just make sure you label and be prepared to replace them if something happens.

This is the most spectacular snowflake I have ever seen and it is super easy to make!! (My 5 year old can do it).  I would do the lights from the ceiling (many buildings are already set up to accommodate this) and then hang these white snowflakes, sprayed with glitter from fishing line attached to the ceiling.  White linens (borrow from RS) white plates, napkins etc... (Cheap because they're white), Sprinkle the tables with silver glitter.  Would be visually stunning IMO! I would maybe put an 3' accent square of fabric in blue tone under the centerpieces.   For center pieces buy glass vases from Wally Word (a 4" mouth) put in clear glass "rocks" and use 4-5 white lillies!

Here's some pics of the snowflakes: (All you need is 6 pieces of typing paper, tape and a stapler)

(They are actually twice this size if you follow these instructions)

I actually made a ton of these snow flakes for our Army Christmas Party decorations last year, it takes a TON of time, but they are beautiful and definitely worth the time.  Just get a big group of people together to make them all a couple days before the wedding.  They don't transport very well, so just have everyone meet at the church.  They are stunning. Smiley

Food seems to be the biggest thing in the budget when it comes to weddings. For mine...we bought various cheesecakes from Sam's club and arranged them on different platters at various levels and had someone serve what people requested. The cheesecakes were fairly inexpensive (if you look for sales and coupons during the holidays you might find some great deals) but they were also classy enough to go on their own. Add a water bowl with lemons in it and you're set.
If you're interested in music, my husband and I do weddings and receptions. Smiley
