Title: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: SavvyShopper on November 01, 2007, 05:58:28 PM There are many sites which offer to reveal store sale information for the day after Thanksgiving sales earlier than the stores themselves have intended. These sites are called Black Friday websites.
I have been in contact with one of those sites and have found out that they often lure people to post "leaked" information and that they can even compensate them for it. One website in particular claimed to be doing nothing wrong since they aren't the ones who leaked the info - but just merely sharing it with everyone after it had been leaked ??? HUH??? There are now lawsuits being threatened by Walmart, Macy's and Circuit City to name a few. Do not be misled. These sites DO NOT have permission to post any sale information until the ad is released to the public. Websites who release information earlier than stores allow are not working legitimately IMO - be aware! We will not allow any posts for Black Friday information here unless we have been given permission to do so. Thanks for your understanding! :) Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: michellepic on November 01, 2007, 06:14:09 PM Amy - Thanks for the information! It can be so hard to navigate this coupon world and determine what legit sometimes. It is really great to know the site I depend on for great deals also has morals and ethics. Thank you for modeling that for everyone!!

Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: verochan on November 19, 2007, 12:37:52 PM Hey Amy,
I'm pretty new to getting the D.H. When are the ads suppose to be out in the paper for Black Fri. Is it on Thurs? I didn't get any coupons this Sunday so, I'm just wonder. :confused1: thanks. Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: SavvyShopper on November 19, 2007, 12:49:56 PM I believe they will come out Thurs. Did you not get any coupons? There should have been 2 inserts.
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: verochan on November 19, 2007, 01:18:13 PM I didn't get any inserts. I thought it was odd. I'm not sure what to do about that. Also, I only get the Sunday and Thursday paper. Would I get the Black Fri. ads? Thanks.
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: Tiff on November 19, 2007, 02:50:51 PM is there ads online that you can look at for the black friday?? or is it only in the paper
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: Kathy on November 19, 2007, 02:52:30 PM They are online too. But most of them probably won't be posted until Thursday. Walmart is the only one up so far. I will start watching for them!

Last year it was CRAZY, but there was some great deals!
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: jennifer on November 20, 2007, 06:21:01 PM I was at Rod Works in Springville yesterday, the cashier was telling everybody about their Black Friday sale. She said that everything in their store was going to be 25% off, plus, there were going to be some other great deals. One of the things that she mentioned was the long iron rods that you hang pictures on (reg. $36) will be $10. I think they open at 6 a.m. and the sale goes until 9a.m.(?) Unfortunatly I am going to be out of town to catch this sale, if anyone is going here and would be willing to grab one of those rods for me I would be appreciative. Please let me know. TIA
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: AmyG on November 21, 2007, 08:22:11 AM Curious if anyone knows if Walmart will match prices on Black Friday. I'm just trying to decide if it's worth making the drive up to Kohls. If I can price match, I will do that instead.
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: CouponCrazy on November 21, 2007, 08:32:23 AM WalMart does price match on Black Friday Ads. I do it that way every year! It saves lots of time and driving.
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: AmyG on November 21, 2007, 08:56:53 AM Thank you for the info. I will go and price match at Walmart.
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: stea on November 21, 2007, 09:11:54 AM Walmart will match the prices, but not until the store you want them to match from opens. So if you are at Walmart at 5 and want to match the price of an item from a store that doesn't open until 6, the will not match the ad until 6. Also, they will not match any price past the time advertised. If a sale is going from 6-9, you have to match it between those times.

Last year it was CRAZY, but there was some great deals! I was 6th in line last year and it WAS crazy. (But fun!) I haven't heard anything but I'll look into it! :) Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: kkelly1235 on November 21, 2007, 11:41:02 AM Wow! I haven't posted in a long time! (we moved- crazy experience, took a trip to see parents in Colorado) I feel like I'm out of the loop on everything!
So... I have never gone Black Friday shopping. For those of you who have done it, is it worth getting up so early, waiting in lines, beating the crowds? I love the rush of getting a great deal, but I'm not sure if I want to get up so early, waiting to find parking spots, the possibility of leaving empty handed. From you seasoned Black Friday shoppers, what's your take on it? Any suggestions on the best way to accomplish all the shopping you would like to in one day? Thanks ladies! Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: kids4sale on November 21, 2007, 12:22:12 PM If you are going for one of the few Big Items I would have to say that I think it isn't worth it....It is a blood bath!!! But If you are going to get some good deals, if you can, and get into the "shopping" spirit...then it can be fun!!
I have witnessed enough violence, and heard enough anger on black friday to make me stay away from the early morning rush!! Good luck!!! Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: SavvyShopper on November 21, 2007, 12:24:36 PM I'm with you. I've decided to hang back a few hours and shop the weekend sales versus the early morning boxing match! :)
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: NicoleLarson on November 21, 2007, 01:30:29 PM I have always gone shopping way before the sun comes up the day after Thanksgiving. I have done it since I was a little girl, and I LOVE it! It is one of the highlights of my year. We usually go with all the girls on my moms side of the family. I would recommend going with others so you can split up and get different items on your shopping list. We also have someone stand in line, while we grab the stuff. This is the fastest way we have found to get in and get out of the stores, so we can get to the next one quick.
Then we always go out to breakfast and then out to lunch. It is so much fun, and has become a tradition in my family as well. (Maybe it's just nice to get a break from the kids ;))I would highly recommend it at least once. Then you will know if "black friday" is for you or not. Wow! I haven't posted in a long time! My in-laws are big on it and so I decided to give it a try with them to see what it is all about. It was CRAZY!! I went just for the Cabbage Patches and they were litterally being thrown all over the place. What ever was left 5 minutes after shopping started was smashed. This year I am giving my MIL my shopping list and letting her enjoy it.:D Not that I could go even if I wanted to, I am at my parents in never never land. :D
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: Kathy on November 21, 2007, 07:03:07 PM I LOVE black friday!!! I have gone with my aunt and my mom for the past 6 or 7 years!!!! I've been getting bummed last year and this year the sales don't seem to be as good. I always get ALL of my Christmas shopping done on Black Friday. We start at 3 or 4 in the morning and hit all the good sales and then I spend the rest of the day picking up everything else I need, I usually shop for 15 hours. This year I was done Christmas shopping in July, but I am still going. I'm going to get some stuff I want-- a Kitchenaid mixer and new towels for my NEW house!!
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: SavvyShopper on November 21, 2007, 07:09:26 PM It is definitely a rush when you go first thing in the morning and are able to get what you want. I have done it many times. But as you may have seen by my late night posts - I am a night owl, definitely not an early bird. Waking up at 4 am nearly kills me :sleepy1: . I decided last year to get all my shopping done before Thanksgiving - and I did. :toothy12: But I will still be hitting the stores @ 9 am just for the pure fun of it all! :D
Title: Re: Black Friday Ad Releases FYI Post by: Cara on November 21, 2007, 09:42:36 PM I'm with Amy. First of all I am a night owl, and second I try to get all my shopping done before Thanksgiving. But there are some great deals out there if you don't mind waking up early. I went last year to Walmart and asked a lady if they had any more of a certain toy in stock, and she looked at me like I was crazy and said, "those were gone by 6:15 a.m.". I would say go as early as you can, but if you do, there are some good deals. Happy Thanksgiving!
