How do I make this work? I am a very busy mom with five kids, so I cannot get to the store at 6 in the morning. I went to the Albertsons sale this afternoon, and nothing except grapes and soda where left.(I am in Provo). I find this happens all the time. Walgreen's never has anything left, like the razors for example. Rite Aid at least does the pre-pay and some of the stores do the rainchecks, which is great. I just get frustrated when I make the trip and find everything gone- like the meat today. Any help for a beginner? I have been doing this for a few months now and am slowly catching on. Thanks for the help!

It's the same way with me, and I've been doing it for a year! Rite AId is the worst for that...even if I get there early in the morning, usually everything is gone, and in asking a nice guy once about it, he says most of the good deals are gone by Sunday the day they start the sale. Walgreens is the same way...I wish these stores would stock up for their advertised sales!!  Angry What is the pre-pay with Rite Aid you were talking about?  I wish I had a magic answer for ya...I'm looking for one myself!  Tongue

The Rite-Aid in Provo will let me pre-pay for a rebate item if it is gone. This way I can enter the receipt by the deadline, and get the rebate money. Then they call me when the item comes in. I usually end up getting my rebate check in the mail and the item from the store around the same time. I do this for the Free items. The only downside is that you pay before you get the item, but I have always gotten them eventually, and they are Free- Yeah!!

I wish ALL the Rite Aid stores would do this. You'd think it would be company policy....not just some stores.   I like the free stuff at Walgreens. It's usually free all month...not just a week like stuff at Rite Aid.

I feel your pain on this one.
I have a hard time shopping during the week, being a mommy to a toddler, prego and not driving puts a damper on it. Since the grocery sales start Weds I don't get to them right away because that's hubby's Bible study night, and Sunday mornings we are at church.  Tongue
I try to make sure I NEVER go to the store for one thing. Usually Walgreens is okay for me, but Albertsons runs out of things SO fast. It seems so silly to have a sale on something then not have that item only halfway into the sale!
I know at one grocery store when my sister went in to get 40 lbs (YES 40!) of hamburger that was on sale, with the sale ending that night they agreed to let her have the price on it the next day, but only because she had wanted so much all at once. She has a family of 8 so they have to REALLY shop!

One thing that I try to do that really seems to help me, is know when the stores restock.  I have never had a problem getting rain checks for anything unless it is  a "while supplies last" special.  I have ended up with several rain check from one store before and then I wait for a couple of weeks after the sale is over to use them.  Albertsons is the best for rain checks.  They will actually give you the price for the items AFTER the instant rebates (when they have them).  Other store will only give you the price before the instant rebate (buy 10 get $2 off etc)

Also, another thing that I have learned from Amy is that the sales repeat, so often if you miss one, there is a similar deal in a couple of months.  I have been frustrated before too, when everything gets wiped out, and you can't get a rain check.  But, if you follow the sales, you learn that there are constant deals, and as you stock up with multiple coupons, you will find your pantry plenty full even if you can't hit every deal before the shelves get wiped.  I tell myself you win some and lose some, but most of the time you win!   Wink  Hope this helps!

I was very lucky last night.  I went to Albertson's (Clinton) last night about 7:00 pm and they were out of almost everything.  I started at the deli counter for the turkey and was able to get that, but the cheese, butter and grapes (that I wanted) were all gone.  I guess the manager of the store had just agreed to start offering rain checks right before I walked into the store.  I know on some of Alberton's really good sales they have not had the supplies to meet the demand in our area.  I know that this was a complaint amongst many of the shoppers I spoke with.  It has gotten better though.  I have noticed that the Albertson's I shop at seems to have a lot more stock and better variety in the recent months.  Maybe if you stop and talk to the management of the store you'd like to shop at, it might help for the future.  One other side note - the guy I talked to at the deli said that they as employee's were only notified of this major sale on Tuesday and had to have all their orders in that day in order to have any amount of stock for the sale on Thursday.
Good Luck - I hope it gets better!
