I just joined today and have lots of questions. Do I have to subscribe to numerous papers to get the inserts? And it looks like everyone that posts lives in Utah county. Is this a requirement to get the coupons? Are the coupons that are listed in the Shopping Wizard only available though a newspaper? Or can they be accessed online somehow? Thanks for any help.

Well first WELCOME!!!

No, you do not have to subscribe to numerous papers to get the inserts.  I only get the Daily Herald which is a Utah County newspaper.  I am not sure if they deliver out of the county or not, you could call and find out though.  Yes, the coupons in the Shopping Wizard are all through the newspaper, most can not be accessed online.  You can find coupons online though, if you go to Coupon Codes & Deals there is a sticky post at the top that says ONLINE PRINTABLE COUPONS  it has a list of links to get different coupons online.  I hope this helps and isn't too confusing!

Catherine,
I'm new also, so I don't have lots of experience either.  I'm sure the moderators could answer this better, but from what I understand, the letter in front of the #'s define the source of the coupons.  So, PG is Proctor and Gamble, S is Smart Source, and V is Valassis.  These are the different inserts that come in the papers.
The first set of numbers tells the date it was published.  Feb 3rd in your example.  The page number is next.  If you cut all your coupons out, this normally isn't needed, but if you keep the whole insert, this makes it easier to find.
Hope that helps.  I think we just need to be patient with ourselves, and understand that the sales come around often enough, that if you miss it, you can get it next time.  Smiley
These forums are great, because they know everything.  Good luck!

You are exactly right on the coupons. S 2/3-3 would be SmartSource Feb 3rd and found on page 3. The page number isn't really necessary, but we include it just in case you haven't cut your coupons yet.

To make it a little more clear:

There are 3 possible manufacturer coupon inserts in the Daily Herald each week -

Proctor & Gamble

Valassis (Red Plum)

Smart Source

You can find the names and dates of these coupon inserts on the spine of each coupon booklet.  For those who do not cut out the coupons we direct you to the booklet by name, date and page number to aid in finding them.  For example:

S1/13-11 = Smart Source insert issued January 13th found on page 11

V1/13-11 = Valassis insert issued January 13th found on page 11

PG1/13-11 = Procot & Gamble insert issued January 13th found on page 11

I teach at least one public class each month.  The next one is march 4th but is full. The next will be in April at the Provo Mariott.  I will let everyone know as soon as the date is confirmed.
