I agree with the Vanilla in Mexico - that's what got me hooked on the pure stuff. I was too cheap to buy it anywhere else, until a friend told me about the stuff at Costco. My question is to Stea is do you drive or fly with the vanilla? The few times we go or someone in the family (pretty rare) we always fly, and I didn't know if we could fly with that much liquid anymore (in both carry ones or checked - since they always ask whats in your bag). Does anyone know? I had a brother that recently went on his honeymoon there and we would have loved to have him bring some back, but didn't know if he'd be able to take it on the plane. I haven't flown with the new regulations, but have heard stories of people having to throw away a tons of products.
Thanks.
My MIL got us some a few years ago in a huge bottle. It's clear...thought that was weird but love it! I don't see an expiration date on it.... does anyone know how long it lasts?
You CAN have liquid in your suitcase that you check in. Just not in your carry-on unless it's less than 3oz. I think. When we went to Disneyland we took a suitcase of food, drinks (then used it for souvenirs when we came home)
No problems!

I'm so glad this topic was started. Just a couple of days ago I started wondering if it was worth it to renew my Costco membership. I think the discussions here have helped me make that decision. Thanks to all!

If any of you have got a membership or renewed it and wish you hadn't you can get a refund.
And you can also get a pass at the customer service desk to go in . If you buy anything you have to get the membership but for those of you who haven't been to Costco or Sam's can go check it out. It's good for buying items in bulk that you don't get coupons for, spices, tortillas, milk, cheese, bread, veggie and fruit trays, produce, gas, the photo lab has good prices and I've always bought diapers there. If you haven't been you might as well check it out! (no, it's not a plug and my husband doesn't work there....we just all want to save money, right?
)
Sam's Club will also give you a refund if you are not happy with the membership.
We moved from S.F. to Lehi this summer and because we aren't out that way (East Bay area) anymore we asked for our money back. WE had just renewed because when I went to pay for somethings right before we moved my membership had run exp. If I had known I wouldn't even have gone but I didn't want them to cancel everything I was buying and I didn't have time to go buy it anywhere else so I went ahead and renewed it so I could get the items she was ringing up. My husband said the Costco will refund the membership fees if you're not happy with it so I called Sam's and they also do it! They tried to tell me they were cheaper but I told them it wouldn't be worth the gas and time to come all that way to save a few pennies.

One note on the photo lab, they lost my pictures once.
The price isn't worth loosing those precious memories, in my opinion! Now I'll only develop at a place that does it "in house", so there is no worry of them being given to some stranger! Yes, I know, go digital...but I have all this film I don't want to waste....

I don't have them sent out...those kind you get what you pay for...that's why they're so cheap....I have them do it in their lab. And, having worked in a photo lab for 7 years and had to ship some things out.... things get lost, ruined, etc. We are human and things happen. Negatives get jammed in machines or exposed...
I doubt there is a photo lab out there that's been in business for more than a year that hasn't lost or damaged someone's negatives or pictures....unintentionally, of course. It just happens.

I don't go to Costco a ton because when I do it seems like a spend so much money, but it was worth the membership for getting glasses and contacts. Also, the photo center has great deals for the quality. If you want to get a 5x7 printed locally there is no place that compares. Costco is only $.37 or $.39 (depending on if you use their in store kiosk or send it online), any other local place charges around $1.40. Big difference if you need a lot of 5x7's printed. Otherwise most things I buy there are cheese, dishwasher detergent, and dryer sheets.

I love getting the "big things" at Costco. I think they have some of the best stuff, all in one place, and for a good price. Tents, lawnmowers, wheelbarrows- and especially kids toys. The Fisher Price Camera had the SD card that the others didn't, the Kidcraft Easel was better than the one online for half the price. I think I am possibly a "Costco snob" but I just love all the stuff I buy there. My roommates and I all used to say we had a testimony of Costco. And, oh, the strawberries. And the baby cucumbers. And the $5 carter's dresses. My father-in-law bought all his office furniture there- and a carpenter was buying it too, saying he couldn't build it that cheap for that good of quality. What can I say, I'm in love!

Has anyone found a better price anywhere else on Shade Shirt type undershirts? That is where I get them, because it's the best deal I've found.

Shade has a semi-annual sale at Thanksgiving Point. They just had it about a month ago so you'll have to wait a while. They usually have seconds and irregulars for about $8, sometimes less. I would just go ahead and buy the 2-pack of shirts at Costco. They are usually cheaper than that and are first quality.

Just because I never knew this - we got a costco gift card for christmas and we don't have a costco membership so I went with my sister in law to borrow hers to use my gift card - and the lady at check out said they have a fake acct set up just for gift cards so you can still use them without a membership, just thought it was helpful information to know

Yeah, I remember that now. My husband's work gave everyone a gift card along with their yearly bonus one year and even though at the time we didn't have a membership, we were able to go use it. I guess if there's a few things you want to buy there once in a while, have someone get a gift card for you.

Here's a general list of things I would buy at Costco: (Remember, most of these items will go on sale throughout the year at other stores and can be cheaper!) I don't "stock up" at Costco, but rather, buy on an as needed basis.
Rice, Flour, Sugar 25-50 lbs in general are a good buy when needed.
Spices - Buying in bulk saves money and they do last a long time!
Yeast
Dairy/Cheeses
Kirkland Formula
Diapers
Neosporin
Paper Plates/Bowls/Cups/Utinsels
FLOWERS!!!! (Super great quality and prices)
Pancake Mix
Cooking Nuts
Pre-cooked Crumbled Bacon (Love It)
Dryer Sheets
Clothing
Decor
Mattresses/Furniture
Some Fruit/Produce (When the prices are good)
Hope that helps!

Down East Outfitters (next to Savers) in Orem sells long tees (although not Shade brand), and when they go on sale, they're a great deal! Usually $5. Someone told me that Forever 21 in University Mall always sells long tees for $5, although I haven't checked it out myself. 21 Apparel (next to Albertson's on Orem Center) also has them on sale frequently, usually for about $7. I don't like buying them at Costco because they never put 2 colors together that I like!
