Great, but I noticed there is no option to select a certain store. Is this temporary?

Is there going to be an option for "all stores" again, instead of having to pick just one?

Unfortunately, as part of a compromise with our data entry company, we have lost the All Stores search function.  Believe me, I'm not very happy either.  The rank search, though a different way to search should make some aspects easier.

Too bad. I was hoping that having the rank search would save time but not now with having to go through all the stores individually. Very disappointing. Oh well.... Cry

Amy, I am curious, though.... why did there have to be a compromise? Was is because if they added something, they had to take something off?

Ok...so what happens if I just need one ingredient for my dinner (ie cheese) and want to find out where it is the cheapest?  Without the "all stores" searching, that is going to be impossible.  I would have to check every store individually.  I know the "wow" rank searching is helpful, but if it is left as it is now, it is essentially just like the emails we get.  If they are taking away the "all stores" function, I would rather NOT have the rank searching.  I can get that information in my emails.

I agree with RKR.  Any way we could get it back to the old way?

I know you can't please everyone, but the "all stores" is soooo much more useful than the wow rankings.  Like said previously, Amy already sends all the "wows" to our emails.  The comparisons were the best feature!

OK, here's the deal....

We can't have the all store search function.  Believe me I'm ticked off and looking into all other options.  It has NOTHING to do with the Daily Herald though.

However,  you CAN still search all the stores, you will just simply have to search one at a time.  Yes, it may take a few more seconds, but in general it is still quick (and free).  Not only that, say you wanted to know who has the cheapest cheese, would it matter if the cheapest was at a store you would have to drive the furthest to get to?  IMO now you can simply search the stores closest to you for a specific product, read the emails for other great deals or check the email archive and still find the same information.

I see benefits from both databases.  Would it be possible to have both options as 2 separate databases so that we could choose which one would work for us at any given time?  Similar to having the "shopping wizard" and "coupon index" options running at the same time.

For example could the new option be called something like "price index" or "pricing wizard".  This way we could have 3 databases available to choose from so that in any situation we could make the best comparisons.

Does that make sense?  Thanks.

It seems like this should be a SUPER EASY fix for them to make (to be able to search All Stores). In fact, it works right now, they just need to change the user interface to make it easier to do. If you do a search for for something by Keyword and click "Search", then edit the URL to remove the store=(some number) from the url, then click Go in your browser, you get the exact results you want - you've searched all stores for your keyword.

Here is what you get when doing the default search for "eggs" (it defaults to Albertsons):
http://www.savvyshopperdeals.com/component/option,com_shoppingwizard/do,products/?category=0&store=16&savings=0&rank=0&keyword=eggs&x=32&y=9

And here is the PERFECTLY working search when you remove the store's id from the URL:
http://www.savvyshopperdeals.com/component/option,com_shoppingwizard/do,products/?category=0&store=&savings=0&rank=0&keyword=eggs&x=32&y=9

All they have to do is edit the list of store options to include and option like this:
<option value="">All Stores</option>

Can't they do that one simple thing? I'm a web developer... I know how easy that is!

Thanks for the post.  That's exactly what my developer husband said too.  At least there is a way to get around it! Wink  You made my day!
