I NEVER met a sale I didn't like!

Sorry everyone.  It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with development.  It could be in done in 1 minute if it were allowed.  It is our data entry company's demand, not the Daily Herald.  I'm still pushing to override this, but we'll have to wait and see.

Okay, this and the Albertson's sales\ads this week has me...well... a little bugged.

Amy, I'm not trying to bother you with this and we know it's not up to you, but why would the data entry company demand that we not be able to search the way we had been? Why would they care?! I know we should be grateful (and we are) for this free website and the options that we have, but why change or take away a good thing?

It seems like this should be a SUPER EASY fix for them to make (to be able to search All Stores). In fact, it works right now, they just need to change the user interface to make it easier to do. If you do a search for for something by Keyword and click "Search", then edit the URL to remove the store=(some number) from the url, then click Go in your browser, you get the exact results you want - you've searched all stores for your keyword.

Here is what you get when doing the default search for "eggs" (it defaults to Albertsons):
http://www.savvyshopperdeals.com/component/option,com_shoppingwizard/do,products/?category=0&store=16&savings=0&rank=0&keyword=eggs&x=32&y=9

And here is the PERFECTLY working search when you remove the store's id from the URL:
http://www.savvyshopperdeals.com/component/option,com_shoppingwizard/do,products/?category=0&store=&savings=0&rank=0&keyword=eggs&x=32&y=9

All they have to do is edit the list of store options to include and option like this:
<option value="">All Stores</option>

Can't they do that one simple thing? I'm a web developer... I know how easy that is!

Crazycurl, thanks for the info...I also realized, for those that want to do the ALL STORE SEARCH, just click the link that crazycurl provided: http://www.savvyshopperdeals.com/component/option,com_shoppingwizard/do,products/?category=0&store=&savings=0&rank=0&keyword=eggs&x=32&y=9 and then replace "eggs" at then end of the url, with whatever you're searching for...then you don't need to take out the store number every time... So, instead of putting the name of an item you are searching for in the key word box, change it in the url window... I hope that made sense....

I also notice while "experimenting" with the url that the &x=32&y=9 at the end of the address doesn't seem to be needed. So the item you are seaching for can be changed easier in the url, rather than putting it between some letters/numbers, it can just be at the end. Can you tell I like things to be easy?

It has to do with money.  Other than that I can't really go into it.  I know it is annoying - it's annoying to me.  But honestly, you can still do everything you were able to do before - it will just take a little more time.  If you wanted to look for the cheapest eggs, simply type eggs and then move from store to store.  A few seconds inconvenience is all that really will mean for now. (Or use the idea above  Wink

In the end, and for right now, that's all I can say.  Please understand, I am doing my best to work with the situation. We are working on it.

I am so confused!  You lost me at URL.  I have compared the two options given but when I took out what I thought I needed from the address it said page not found.  Help! Undecided

Okay, to do an all search (search all stores for one item) use this link: http://www.savvyshopperdeals.com/component/option,com_shoppingwizard/do,products/?category=0&store=&savings=0&rank=0&keyword=eggs and just replace eggs at the end of the url with what you want to seach for (i.e., sugar, Campbells, yogurt...and to do two word searches you can still do them. Just do a space like you normally would and it works just fine.) DO NOT click on the search button on the website or it will only search Albertson's (unless you change the store search because Albertson's is basically now the default...which is why you'd want to use the above link in the first place. If you want to search indivdual stores just do it on the website and don't change anything with the url.

Hope that helps. I don't know why it would say "page not found" unless you were deleting more than you should have been?
