« on: May 29, 2008, 02:10:06 PM »

I am looking for a new pediatrician.  I live in Lehi and would like one fairly close.  I have been through 2 and am ready for #3.  Hopefully its a charm, not a strike out. Wink  I came from a wonderful one before we moved here and would like to find one that it as good.

I love mine Smiley - and I am very picky because my son has had lots of health issues shall we say....so it took me a while to find one when me moved up here a year and a half ago who I felt was thourough / listens / cares.  His name is William Edwards and he works at Alpine Pediatrics - they have a couple of offices - but I know for sure he works at the one in the crossroads in saratoga springs in some offices behind the smiths.  He asks you a lot of questions and writes everything down on a lap top while he's talking to you so he has it for the next time you go in if they come in with something similar or more chronic he can track it - if you have any more questions about him, let me know

Thank you for the information!  This was very helpful to me as well, since I am not fond of the pediatrician I currenty take my kids to.  He is always in a hurry and never has any definite answers about anything.  Not a fan at all.  Thanks again.

I LOVE mine too!  We went to a couple different ones before we went to her and the difference was night & day.  I feel like she really listens, and genuinely cares.  I have never gotten the run around or the lack of a definite answer like we did with others.  It is Marcie Conner and she is at Utah Valley Pediatrics which is in the new copper top building right next to the AF Hospital.

I love mine too...His name is Dr. Todd Whiting with Alpine Pediatrics in Lehi.  We have had him from the beginning and I truly feel like he is a friend Smiley Just a note, I had Dr. Edwards (a previous post) on call one day and I LOVED him too! He was super genuine and really put me at ease. He was confident with what he was doing, and I always find that to be a good trait in a doctor Smiley I would take him anyday too!  It's nice to hear of several names here...I have talked to too many mothers who don't really care for their peds.  Sad.

I use Utah Valley Pediatrics in Payson - Dr. Garron Miller.  I know you don't live out this way, but the great thing about Utah Valley Peds is that they are all connected, there is someone ALWAYS on call and they have an AWESOME after hours clinic at Timp. Hosptial.

We've used Dr. Garron Miller in Payson, too, and liked him.  We like the other Dr in his office even more, Dr. Peterson.  He's a newer doctor and takes as much time with us as we need....he even changes diapers!  He's wonderful!  Utah Valley Peds is great!

I take both of my kids to Doctor Todd Whiting also. He is great. I have seen several of the other doctors when we have gone in after hours and have been pleased with all of the doctors at Alpine Pediatrics. Also they have an after hours clinic at night and on the weekends so it saves you a trip to the ER if you ever need it.

My kids go to the Timp Hospital office of Utah Valley Peds, but I haven't heard about the after-hours clinic at Timp Hospital, just that the after-hours rotates around to all the offices.  Any info on the after-hours at Timp Hospital?  Thanks!

Dr. Lader in Provo by the hospital.  He listens very well.  We have twins and someone recommended him to us.  I have heard many people say great things about him.  He has been around for a long time.  Knows a lot.

Dr. Clayton in Provo is AMAZING.  So kind and gentle and at every visit he sits down with me and answers all the questions I ask and many that I don't think to ask.  My girlfriend was worried about her 5 month old daughter, she just felt something was wrong and her doctor told her she was having new mom worries.  She took her baby to Dr Clayton and he said to her "Dr. Mom is always right, let's run some tests."  It ended up that her daughter had an enlarged heart chamber and needed a transplant immediately.  Dr. Clayton has excellent intuition and always takes the time for each patient.  I LOVE HIM!!

Stea--I disagree with someones earlier post about Dr. Edwards and Dr. Whiting. I have had Dr. Edwards twice and both times he was very unprofessional. He is NOT our regular pediatrician, just unlucky enough to have him be the one on call. My daughter split open her head and needed stitches (glue) and while he was getting ready to glue her gash back together he asked me if I could hold the gash together while he glued it. I was a bit shocked and said your joking right, and he replies no I've never done this before. Weird!! I am sure he'd done it before. Then he told my daughter she would have a scar like Harry Potter. She started crying. My 7 year old daughter doesn't want to have a lightening gash on her head for life.  He went and got a nurse to help. Everyone was riled up by the end far more than when we first came.

He was also the doctor oncall when my last daughter was born. I tested postive for that b strep, but didn't get the antibiotics in time. So there were some risks to my daughter. However, he proceeded to tell me in detail every horrible thing that could be and that we needed to stay in the hospital the whole entire 3 days to have her observed and then bring her into the office after we got home to make sure she wouldn't stop breathing. Well, gee whiz. That's what every new mom wants to hear--her baby may stop breathing. We had a pediatrician friend of ours come to the hospital and check her out. He was furious at Dr. Edwards poor bedside manner and told us the chances of any of the things Dr. Edwards had said happening were very small. And by the way, she is still breathing 3 years later.

However, his skills are not a reflection of Alpine Peds practice overall. Many of the doctors there are wonderful. Dr. Edwards and one other I personally don't care for, but all are  good doctors in my opinion.

Dr. Whiting, in my opinion is nice, but so slow. I've waited forever to see him. Difficult to contain small children in a small office while waiting anxiously for the doctor.

I do however, love their PA Jeff Abrahams. He is practical, on time and very good with the kids. I also like Brett Knorr, Dr. Arnold & Dr. Johnson. They are all very good and take the time necessary. Overall I like Alpine Peds, but it's like anywhere you have to ask many different people about their experiences. Good Luck!

I have to second the referral to Dr. Later in Provo at the Physician's Plaza.  I was reccommended to him by my OB when I had my first child.  He is also part of Utah Valley Pediatrics, so you get the benefit of their after-hours clinic.  He has 2 PAs that are great, very competent.  I have heard of other people traveling from all over the county to see him.  I don't think you could go wrong with seeing any of the 3 in his office.  He seems to be really good at allergy and asthma issues as well.  He has been our Pediatrician for 16 years.  I know he is rather far for you, but I would consider it worth it.  And good luck finding one......it can be tough finding a good fit.
