I didn't get a chance to hear all the details but I think I heard on the news that ground beef at Smith's was being recalled.

Did anyone get the full story?

Thanks.

This was printed at the bottom of my receipt from Orem Smith's today:

"Important Recall Notice

You may have purchased 'GROUND BEEF, ALL VARIETIES, WEIGHTS, AND SIZES, Sell By Dates: 5-21-08 thru 6-8-08' which has now been recalled. You may return the product or the empty container for a full refund at any Smith's store. None of the recalled ground beef is currently available for purchase. Product may be contaminated with E.coli 0157:H7, which can cause serious health risks. DO NOT CONSUME THIS PRODUCT."

I hate when this happens since I always break down my meat into one pound or two pound packages and put them in freezer bags in my freezer.  So I never know which meat is from which store - They said to cook it to 160 degrees, I think, to kill anything in it.  No one has gotten sick yet, thankfully.

I also read that the recall does not include meat in prepackaged chubs, or frozen hamburger patties.  I also buy the big packs and then separate it... with all the recalls of late I'm thinking of maybe keeping some sort of log...Does anyone do this? I know the ground beef I have now is from Harmon's, but usually I wouldn't remember... Undecided
