What's the best way to do your coupon homework if you live out of state and need to do it on your own?

Is there a shortcut or a trick that makes it faster than pouring over each ad for hours?

Most likely, there is a website that has the grocery lists for your state.  Coupon clipping, deal-finding, money-saving sites abound on the internet.  The trick is to find the right one!  HTH!

I NEVER met a sale I didn't like!

Another tip:

The front page ads is called a "loss leader".  The products are being sold at a loss to entice you to come to the store.  These are usually good sale items.

The only other suggestion is to organize and become familiar with your coupons.  The more you see what you have the more you can find great deals.  Smiley

I personally have to "pour over" the ads to find the best deals.

If you could find a site similar to this for your area it would be helpful. I have noticed there are many blogs, so if you sift through them you might find one close to your area.  As for me, I don't clip any coupons until I need them. Since I don't buy a lot of the processed and frozen foods that coupons are used for, it saves me tons of time.  I used to clip and organized them all, but I'll never do that again since I use only about six at a time. But I also only get one paper. But my coupons are so worth it! I use them for occasional treats (it makes them cheap!), cereal, detergent, toothpaste, shampoo, and RAZORS to save money. I am not the coupon expert obviously, if I'm using only six at a time. I hope someone else chimes in to help more with that. I am still learning.

The bulk of my savings though comes from shopping sales. As for the ads, I have found that you will get to know what a good price is for each item if you just keep looking at them.  If it helps you cab write down some key items for a month to help keep track and see what a good price is. Eventually it won't feel so confusing.  I rcommend a book called "Beating the High Cost of Eating: The Essential Guide to Supermarket Survival" by Barbara Salsbury.  It doesn't talk about coupons much, but is about using sales to your advantage. I loved this book and I'm sure there are others out there--this one is the one my library had. Smiley I think it's great.  Good luck!  Don't give up. Taking a little time can save you money and it does get easier!

I live in Utah, but my mom and sisters live in Seattle. They want me to teach them couponing, but I don't think there are online resources like in Utah.
