There were about 9 left on the shelf at the Orem Target tonight.

Talk to the store manager and have them special order some for you! They can order as many as you need.  Cheesy

I went to Smiths in Pleasant Grove (a less frequently shopped store) and the shelves were wiped out of the buddies bars.  After questioning the cashier when they'll get more she didn't know and added that a lady came in and bought everything that was on the shelves with coupons.  I understood (knowing that this is a GREAT deal with the coupon) but people PLEASE please please be considerate of others and leave something on the shelves for the rest of us.  This is something Amy tries very hard to point out in her classes - is to be considerate of others and realize that you are not the only one out there trying to save money.  Having a good stockpile at home is reasonable but when it takes a good month to use just 1 bar, you don't need to wipe the store shelves of their inventory just so it can sit on your basement shelf unused.  I am a little upset over this because I have been to over 6 stores looking for this one product to find out from the cashier that just 1 person took the entire inventory.  I am out of buddies bars and could actually use them right now rather than having it sit in your basement.  Thanks for understanding and hopefully everyone will be more aware of the situation and focus more on those around them.

I totally agree!! I have went to three different stores on the day they get their shipments in and have found them all gone.  Angry  I don't understand why people need to leave the shelf bare, when others could use some also. I think it goes back to being considerate of others. We are all trying to get in on the good deals so let us!!! icon_cheers

Preach on, Beth!   I whole-heartedly agree.  I think this is why so many people get burned out with couponing anyway.  You go to the store to grab a deal and a person is standing at the checkout with a cartful of whatever it is that you came in for.  It's very frustrating.

If I had a buddy bar I'd give it to you Smiley

hmmm interesting to know.  Do they hold or reserve it for you under your name or just restock the shelves with the product?

I would think the majority of couponers do NOT clear the shelves with a cart full of one item. Just because a store is out of an item doesn't mean ONE person took them all. Someone has to take the last ones. When I went to Smiths they had 6 bars. I had two coupons so I took them. I don't think that is unreasonable...yes, there weren't any on the shelf when I walked away, but it's not my fault there were only 6 to begin with. I've never seen that many on a shelf at one time before. I just don't think they carry that many of them at once.

I bet most people have used their coupons by now and they don't expire for over a month and a half so I'm sure there will be more left on the shelves as time goes on.

Where do you live?

I've been trying to only get 3 buddy bars every week when I'm out.  Some weeks Wal-mart has them in and some weeks I have to make a trip to Target or Smith's.  I should have just ordered (I think I had enough coupons for 24, that's probably a case).  Now I know.  Thanks for the idea about special ordering.  I need to try that.

I live in Orem which is where, IMO, the majority of SavvyShopper couponers are located (central UT county).  I disagree that it's not the couponers out there that are wiping the shelves clean on this mainly because 1) the cashier told me that this is what happened and 2) Amy has mentioned several times in her couponing class that she personally witnesses this taking place all the time.  She stresses how important it is to be courteous to others and NOT take all the inventory off the shelf.
If you walk up to the shelf and there are 6 bars and you REALLY feel that there are never many there in the first place, why would you take all 6 of them for yourself rather than using 1 coupon and leaving some for others?  I understand that someone has to be the person to take the last item on the shelf but if people are reasonable and realize that the coupon is good for another month and a half, don't take all of them at once.  6 bars will last you 6 months...of sitting on your shelf rather than in my bathroom being used   Cheesy

I love Amy's idea of ordering items, but I would LOVE it even more if there was something there to purchase in the first place.   Wink

I agree it would be nice if there was always some on the shelf.  However, the stores didn't necessarily know we were getting the coupons.  Also, remember they don't expire for a while yet.

As for taking the last of the inventory - Maybe the person using their coupons doesn't shop that often, doesn't want to go back again when the item is available right now, will use their bars quickly, or needs them for some other reason.  There is very limited shelf space for this item. This is a tough one.  It's different than a sale, since you can't get rainchecks on a coupon and the stores don't know to stock up.

Just be patient and the stores will restock. Smiley

I just wanted to clarify some things and I'm not trying to cause any problems...

I said I didn't think the *majority* of couponers clear the shelves. When I say or hear "clear the shelves" I think of taking a fully stocked shelf for themselves. I took six bars because I don't get to go shopping that much so I took them while I had the chance...AND I'm working on my year supply and I'm not going to feel guilty about that.  I also have a niece that has twins and not a lot of money and I give her some. Besides, I live in Lehi and don't have a large selection of stores. Being in Orem, you have access to a lot more stores than I do. As far as me not being "reasonable"...you don't know me...and I am  Cheesy.  Six bars of soap will NOT last me six months...maybe if I only bathed them once a week.

I don't think the problem is as much the couponers that use their coupons as it is the stores and manufacturers for not having an adequate supply for an item that is free after the coupon...AND then prints out a catalina for three more for free (at Smiths).

Thank you, Amy for stating that....I am one of those customers that doesn't shop at Smiths very often....and last time I was there, there were 6 Buddy Bars left.  I took them all.  I still have a few coupons left and have checked the shelves at other stores each time that I have been to one that carries the bars.  I have not come across anymore yet, but as you stated, the coupon doesn't expire for quite awhile still.  I don't want to feel guilty or like I am a "greedy shopper" if I happen to come across something and take the last of the inventory.  I am doing my best to be courteous, and the fact is we're ALL looking for the same item, and PATIENCE is key!  The coupon doesn't expire until November 30!  Good Luck to us All!
