I'm needing to stock up again, so thanks for the info.

Do you happen to know if the chicken is frozen or fresh? If it is the fresh, I have purchased it before and while I was satisfied with the overall product, the chicken came un-trimmed and it required a little work on my part. I ended up spending a couple of hours trimming the fat and seperating into ziploc bags. It was well worth it - we are still working on the ones that I have in my freezer and I will be purchasing more. I already have it on my calendar for that day!

I posted about this chicken last week....see my post below....does anyone have a suggestion as to better chicken in the area? I'm satisfied with Macey's price, but it was TOUGH meat and like MommaB, I spent a lot of time trimming and separating into bags as well. Any ideas are appreciated!

Can anyone tell me which is the best store to get chicken breasts (skinless, boneless)- quality wise? Last year I bought chicken breasts at Maceys in the huge 40lb. box. It was not the best of selection to say the least. The price was good but the meat was too tough. No matter how I tried marinating and/or cooking it I couldn't get it to tenderize and seem less "chewy". Has anyone tried Harmons, Smiths or Albie's chicken? I prefer Maceys because of their price but for the quality on this particular item, I'm willing to drive out of my way to get it. Maybe it's the brand and not a store issue? Maybe Maceys brand is different than what the other stores put on their shelves??

The chicken at Sunflower Market in Orem is $1.57 lb and it is great. I got it when it was this price a few weeks ago, it had hardly any fat and everyone I talked to commented on how impressed they were with the chicken.
It is even All Natural chicken with no harmones or anything else injected into it, so it is even better for you.
Don't forget their Grapefruit that is 10 for $1 right now!!!

I use the Maceys chicken all the time and have found it to work well. It hasn't ever been chewy for me. I do use a crockpot often, so maybe that makes a difference? I like it and love the price.

You may be cooking it to long. Chicken is so picky, it gets tough when overcooked. I try not to ever cook my chicken breast longer than about 20 minutes if doing it in the oven, and even less if on the stove top.

I always cook chicken at least 40 min. in the oven - is it done at 20 min?

Depending on how thick the chicken is, will depend on how long you should cook it. When I get chicken from Costco and I have defrosted it, I will cook it at 375 for 20-25 minutes.

when a recipe calls for "cooked chicken" how long do you gals cook it? I think that's the point I'm cooking it too long because I cook it before popping it in the oven.

Do you have to pre-order and is it while supplies last. Do they have enough to meet the demand?
