Is there a best day to usually shop, or is it different every week and at every store?  I am new and just trying to figure it out.  Thanks

Rite Aid & Walgreens: Best day is first thing on Monday, especially for free items.  They do not have huge amounts of inventory on shelf or even in back so a lot of times you will not find what you are looking for.  Ask the store which day their re-stock truck comes in and you can return that day to find more products.

Grocery Stores: You need to know that these stores order their inventory weeks in advance and many times do not know what an ad will be featuring, with exception of big Quaker sales and Box Tops item sales - these they do know and stock up on.  So, you will find the best selection, of course, the day a store sale starts.  But usually at a grocery store, they do have a large inventory and many items will be restocked.  Again, ask the store when they get their restock in and you can shop that day as well.  Most of the grocery stores ads will start on Wednesday - Harmons is the exception right now, they start on Sunday.

You will always find the best selection on day one of any ad, but in Utah County, you can still shop late in an ad run and usually get what you are looking for.

One time I was at an Albertsons when they had a sale running and the shelf inventory was quite picked over.  The grocery manager saw my frustration (I was not complaining, but he could see disappointment) and took me in the back to find what I was looking for.  If you are a shopper who can express your disappointment without complaining, then the employees are much more willing to help you out.  There are too many that complain and whine and the employees do not work well with them - You catch more flies with honey then with vinegar!

For most stores it would be the day the sale starts...especially if you have coupons that will be expiring soon for those items. Remember you can get rain checks if they're out (unless it states in the ad "while supplies last"). And ask when they get their deliveries so you're not checking everyday when they only get deliveries once or twice a week.

I never go to Walgreens just to get the FREE items the week they're advertised unless I need to get other things that are on sale for the week.  The free items seem to be advertised the first full week after the rebates start (sometimes the Easy Saver book starts in the middle of the week which is probably the BEST time to get the free items). Their rebates go all for about a months time but it doesn't state in the ad that they'll be free for the next 4 weeks. People probably assume that they have to get it that week so they run out. I've always been able to get the FAR (free after rebate) items before the deadline...which I wish was the last day of the month. It would be a lot easier to remember when they ended and the new one started but that would be too convenient.  Wink

RiteAid has some items that are only free for a certain week so you would want to get it a.s.a.p. If they run out ask when they should get some more. If they're out of a rebate item that has to be purchased during certain dates the Provo RiteAid will let you prepay for the item so you have the receipt to use for the rebate and then they'll call you when they get it. The north Orem (off 16th North and State) will just write "free" on the rain check so you can still get it for free... I don't know if this is still the case because I don't live that close to a RiteAid anymore and haven't been there in a while. Cry

I almost never go the first day of the sale.  I wait until the next day my store restocks and then go.  It's less crowded and I can usually get everything I need.  Just ask your store when they restock - even Rite Aid.  Smiley

I love to go on Tuesday's.  I was once told by the Lehi Albertson's, that they do not hand out rainchecks for the first 3 days of the sale  We need to come back when they get restocked.  The last day of the sale has many perks.  I can use my addition coupons that come out on Sunday, I'm garenteed my rainchecks and best of all it's less crowded!!!!
