I was wondering if anyone knows a place I can drop off all my extra grocery bags to be recycled so I don't have to throw them in the garbage? My kitchen is overflowing with them right now!

I know for sure Walmart has a box as you walk in to get a cart, and I'm pretty sure the other grocery stores have them too....just haven't noticed recently to be for sure.

A lot of the schools are recycling them, or at least the ones by me.  Call you local elementary to see if they take them.  I know that Fox Hollow in Lehi does for sure.

Many elementary schools take these bags and send them as a large box to Walmart who in turn gives them $$$$$$  for their schools.  If you don't have Elementary school kids, ask a neighbor, they would most likely be happy to have their child take them for you! (When I hit post someone else was posting the same thing!  Great minds think alike HA  HA HA) Eaglecrest elementary and Sego Lily both recycle in Lehi too!

I've taken mine to Albertsons and Maceys in SF.  They both have drop off places by the front door.  My garage has way too many of them right now.  I think it's time for another trip!  Undecided

Go here for a link to a complete list of participating schools.

Please support our schools!  Every little bit helps and I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure I can fill a couple of those $5 boxes all by myself Smiley  Great Schools mean Great Communities!

Orem Elementary accepts them. (4th South and 4th West).  They said that they receive $5 per bag.

I live in Orem, and am unsure about the recycling policies elsewhere, but if you have a recycle garbage can (ours are blue), you can recycle them that way by bunching up and stuffing several plastic bags into one bag.  They say you shouldn't put individual bags in because they're too lightweight, but if they're stuffed into one it gives them enough weight to not cause problems when being sorted.

Cherry Hill Elementary in Orem (1600 S. & 250 E.) accepts them.  There is a box inside the front doors near the fish tank--you can just drop them in.
