I have heard that you can send expired coupons to military bases, where they are still good for 6 months past the expiration date. Has anyone ever done this? I wanted to start doing this, as I always have tons of good coupons I never end up using when I take all the expired ones out of my binder each week.

I've sent them to these bases. It helps them a lot.

Base 1:  Thomas Leugers USAG-UD CMR 419 box 1467 apo ae 09102

Base 2:
Volunteer/Outreach Coordinator
ACS-10th ASG
Unit 35115
APO AP 96376-5115

Here are a few guidelines to get you started:

* Send only coupons that have expired up to two months ago to take into account travel and processing time at military bases.

* Sort your coupons into food and non-food items (pet food and vitamins are considered non-food)

* Package the grouped coupons into baggies or envelopes. Do not use rubber bands or paper clips to keep them sorted.

Here are more addresses of families requesting coupons.

We COULD REALLY USE SOME COUPONS TO HELP SAVE US SOME MONEY If you could please send coupons to:
Valarie Phillips
PSC 78 BOX 2684
APO, AP 96326

I could use some coupons for our commissary here in Germany.

Jennifer Wilson
CMR 405 BOX 6221
APO, AE 09034

It's getting harder to find coupons here on base so they will be greatly appreciated. I also distribute these coupons out to other military families.

Hello, I'm a mom and wife in Okinawa, Japan where the cost of living is high. If you have any expired or current coupons you no longer need, we sure could use them. Our commissary here lets us use expired coupons up to six months after the expiration date. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Please mail to:

Here is what I've heard:

Overseas Commissaries ONLY can use expired coupons - not stateside.

And, that link says: "Commissaries accept most types of coupons as part of purchase transactions in accordance with the terms and conditions stated on a coupon."

Most coupons state " Void if sold, copied, TRANSFERRED, altered, prohibited or restricted".

It seems to me you would have to find coupons that didn't have that wording to send.

Coupons do state " Void if sold, copied, transferred, altered, prohibited or restricted by law. Good only in the USA, APOs & FPOs" or "including military bases"

I've not had any problems sending coupons to military personnel overseas. Here's a helpful site if you want to participate in the Overseas Coupon Program. http://www.ocpnet.org
Having grown up in a military family I know these coupons help. Usually friends would have their families send coupons to wherever they were stationed.

True, some do state that they are valid in those locations.  It's the transferring them to another location part that would be the concern. Maybe I'll email a few mfrs. and see what they think.  I can't imagine they would care, but you never know.  I'll let you know what I find out!
