After our class I changed from the box to binder and I love it!  I really love the fact that when I went to the Staples in East Bay  on Saturday a clerk told me about a few they had on clearance in the back up on a high shelf for $3.50!  I had one in my hand that was $14!

Does anyone have any good suggestions on cutting out coupons? I feel like it takes me all day on Monday to get them cut out and put away. I use just a good ol' pair of scissors. I'm hoping there is some neat gizmo that will same me loads of time!  Wink

If you have more than one set of coupons each week, make sure that you stack like pages together.  I get five sets each week, separate them and stack the identical pages together, then cut all five pages at the same time.  Does that make sense?  Maybe you are already doing this, but I know when I do it this way it takes me about 30-45 minutes each week to cut and file them all.  Make sure your scissors are full-size, not a childrens size.  That also makes a difference in time.

Also, I have seen a new cutting tool made by 3M (I think), that is for cutting wrapping paper.  I saw them packaged with a roll of Scotch tape at Riteaid.  That might make it faster, not sure. HTH! Smiley

The Organization Place in Orem has a coupon cutting tool.  I haven't seen it yet.  I use scissors too - but I also cut multiple sheets at the same time (If you get more than 1 copy of the inserts.)

I use my big trimmer that I have for scrapbooking - most weeks I just pile them on top of each other (4 copies) and they slide just fine.

I was WAYYYYY behind in clipping my coupons (try 4 months worth!!)  It took me longer to pull all of the ads out of the newspapers than it did to "clip" them last night for the big shop this morning!!!

My method?.....I have an island in my kitchen with a straight edge on the side and I just line up the sheet on the edge of my island and tear them.  I tore 4 months of ads in an an hour and a half!!!  My 11 year old daughter thought she could cut multiple layers faster than I could tear single sheets (you can tear up to three sheets at a time if you are careful, I don't, but you can).  I beat her hands down over and over again.

I too did the box method and have changed to the binder method...today was my first BIG shop with the Binder and I'M in LOVE!!! It was SOOO much faster and easier to find them, and now I can quickly pull them when they expire!  It's a lot less intimidating and doesn't feel like drudgery!

Thanks Savvy Shopper for all you do for us!!

I resisted to changing my method from a box storage to this binder storage, but finally bit the bullet and did it this last weekend.  I did my first shopping trip today at Maceys with the binder and I AM TOTALLY CONVERTED!!!  This is by far much easier than the box storage method.  I found a binder at Staples (but the Herald will have them in soon) and baseball card holders and dividers at Wal Mart and Office Depot.  This is SOOO Great to store the coupons!  Amy's formula works well, I tweaked it a bit and sub divided some of the categories to my liking.  Good luck!

The baseball card holders are in the office supply section with other plastic page protectors.  I have gotten them at the Payson Walmart, but have seen them at many others.  HTH!

I could never find any at the Walmart in AF and I tried a couple of times.  I found them the first time I looked at the one in Lindon.  And they are SUPER CHEAP!!!!

I have seen these at Roberts also.  I bought a box of 50 and with the 40% off coupon I think they ended up costing about $6.00.

The binder was about $13 but I had a bunch of $3 off for turning in ink cartridges plus a rewards check so I paid about $4 for the binder - if you haven't started yet, I would wait until the Herald gets them in - I think they will be a good deal.

I found the baseball card holders at the AF Walmart in the front by the trading cards, but that was over a month ago.

I found the other dividers at Office Depot in Orem.

Have fun organizing!!!

This is a fabulous idea and I just put mine together.  The only thing I did differently is make my lists according to the grocery store layout.  Most stores in my area have a grid of where everything is, so I typed it into Word with room for what I need to buy and then print it out before making my list for that week.  Makes shopping even easier.  thanks so much for the binder pictures, too.
