Do not double?
«

I've noticed that several of the internet coupons are starting to say "do not double or triple" on them. When we get double coupons can we use these? I was under the impression that the doubles were like store coupons and could be stacked like any other store coupon + manufactures coupon. I noticed Amy made a comment about some blinkies saying "do not double" during the last sale. I'm confused as to why the manufactures would care if the store was willing to "match" their coupon by doubling it.

I have used many "do not couble" coupons at double sales before (albertsons, kmart, another store in wisconsin called PickNSave) and they cashier has always doubled them for me. Never had a problem with it.

I've had them rejected at Albertsons.

The Albertson's at Center & State in Orem has ALWAYS doubled my coupons whether I brought them in or whether they came from the blinkies inside the store. As it's been said several times, it's usually up to the store. But it's so easy to call ahead and find out.

I think they're are two ways to look at it....
The coupons that say do not double are generally high value coupons and I believe that is why the manufacturer doe not want them doubled. Often these coupons make things really cheap and they may lose their profit.
But I have also heard it said that its okay because the Albertsons twice value coupons are being doubled by the store not the manufacturer.
I am not trying to sound cliche but I would say let your consciences be your guide.

I have never had a coupon refused for doubling that said DND. It really depends on your store/cashier. The store is the one that is eating the double price, not the manufacture.

Thanks, I just posted another thread about this same thing, although it seems to have mysteriously disappeared. Weird. Anyway, this one answered my question. I've also had some cashiers take the coupons that say "do not double" and some won't take them, even in the same store. Sometimes I wonder if some of them just didn't notice and I don't want to be doing something I shouldn't be doing. I think that I'll just call the store I go to or stop at the CS desk and ask next time I want to use one that says DND.

Here's my understanding:
Most coupons read "manufacturer" will reimburse you the face value of the coupon plus 8 cents handling. Basically they're saying if a store chooses to double the coupon, the store will "eat" or take a loss on the double. (If the coupon is for $1.00 and they double it to $2.00 - the store will only get reimbursed for $1.08)
In my experience in CA most coupons will double with no problem if the barcode starts with a 5. Most blinkies start with a 9 and state "do not double". Honestly, I don't know why a store would double one coupon and not another. It's their loss either way. However, I too have heard of stores refusing to double the DND (do not double) coupons. So, I guess buyer beware.
