Most times when I am buying something with a coupon that is for more than the price of the item, the cashier will override the coupon amount so that it matches the price of the item.  And in all of my experience with using double coupons, the cashiers always double the coupons with the highest amount (but not over $1) no matter what the price of the item was.  If it ever turns out that they "owe" me money, or that I am not paying taxes for all items purchased, they always go in and over-ride the coupon amount so that I am paying what I need to be.

So I don't feel like doubling the hot dog coupon was dishonest, but Amy please correct me if I am wrong since you have a lot more experience with this than I do!!!

My impression of this (like most everyone else) is that they won't double the coupon to more than the value of the hotdogs, but they would double it to $0.98 so they are free.  The coupon actually reads "Max Value $1.00".  That means you could double a coupon under $1.00 and thus they could override the coupon to get them free.  Make sense? Most stores now "override" any coupon with overage to give you only the price of the item. (Stores getting the full value back from the mfr is another issue entirely.) 

Today I went to Albertson on Center in Orem and got 5 bottles of Dove Shampoo and Conditioner @ $3/bottle I used 5 $1/1 and doubled 3 spent around $7 OOP and it printed a $5 catalina which made it $2 for 5 bottles of Dove  Dove Catalina deal Buy Dove Products between 6/17-7/19 spend $15 or more & get $5 OYNSO.  I also checked the clearance section in the back of the store and they have Clairol Perfect 10 Haircolor  (Blonde colors only) for $5 if you use the $5.00/1 RP 6/21-10 7/31/2009, **FREE Haircolor***  They had about 10-15 boxes.   

Thanks for the tip!  I went and bought 5 bottles tonight with my last two doublers.  Five bottles for $3 + tax.
