I just heard about a free preschool program for Utah children ages 4-5 that have not entered kindergarten.  The program is full for 2009, but you can pre-register for 2010.  My baby just started kindergarten so I will not be able to take advantage of the program, but I'm sure there are many of you out there that can.  Here's more info

WOW!  This looks GREAT!  My grandson, whom I have custody of would love this.  I hope we get to do this.  We've signed up for the Pre Registrations.  Fingers crossed.  Thanks for sharing this.

When MY kids were young, we were VERY poor, and it wasn't until my third child that I heard about Head Start Preschool that we would have qualified for. I felt bad that my girls didn't get to do this.  Again, thanks for sharing.

My son is doing this and this happens to be the first year that they have received a grant to make it free in Utah.  The grant is for two years, and they'll hopefully have such great results that they'll be able to get another grant from the state to keep it going.  It really is a fabulous program.  My preschooler loves it and because he has it, my first grader gets to use it as well (the program goes up to 2nd grade).  At the last meeting we had, they mentioned that there were already 400 on the waiting list, so if you want a shot at it, get registered.  They give out so many to each area, otherwise this first year they said only St. George would have gotten it since they got the word out really quick.  If you don't get in on the free version, I highly recommend paying for the subscription.  You can get it for only $30 a month and up to 5 in your household can use it.  Depending on how far my son gets with the program, we may purchase a subscription to keep using it throughout his kindergarten year.

Thank you for posting this!!  The Waterford Program is awesome, and I just registered my preschooler!  Just an FYI, he said they are starting in January and she can do this until she starts kindergarten next year.  He also said my younger daughter (who is a year too young for the Upstart program) can log in and do the learning games too!  We have the Waterford alphabet videos that go along with this program, and my kids love them!
