Make a list, check it twice, and watch for holiday food sales
Now is the time to start planning for your holiday food needs.
Start by sitting down with a calendar, pen and paper. First, consider if you are going to be hosting a party. If so, write down needed ingredients, food items etc. Next, list the parties and events you will be attending and what food items you will be bringing to these activities.
Add extra items for last-minute and unexpected parties.
Next, take stock of what items you like to have on hand during the holidays -- such as eggnog, candy, oranges, nuts, chocolate, beef sticks, cheese, etc. Think of non-food items you enjoy during the holidays as well, such as fresh flowers and poinsettias.
When you have completed your list, I recommend beginning now, if you haven't already, to watch for these items to go on sale. Each week, purchase some items from your list. If you have not signed up for my free bi-weekly Best Deals e-mail, sign up today. You will get a free list twice a week of all the best deals at local grocery and drug stores. Use these e-mails in conjunction with your list of holiday food needs to get the very best deals on those items.
Watching for sales and spreading your purchases out over time will ease the pinch on your pocketbook, which will in turn ease your stress during this holiday season.
