Keep couponing to donate to food charities PDF Print E-mail

I recently noticed an advertisement in the Daily Herald from the Food and Care Coalition of Utah Valley. The advertisement listed items that the coalition is in need of at this time.

Some of the items listed were: frozen juice, canned fruits, canned vegetables, canned chili, tuna, antiperspirant, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.

Many of these items can be purchased for a great price by combining a coupon with a store sale. Many of us are well on the way to having a stocked pantry and have stopped purchasing many items, especially toiletries, even when they are cheap and free. I would suggest that when you find a great deal, continue to purchase those items, even though you do not need them for personal use, and donate them to the Food and Care Coalition of Utah Valley or the Timponogos Regional Food Bank.

Many other food items can be purchased at Albertsons for very little money during the General Mills promotion through today. Using the information from my weekly deals e-mail, items you can get for under 50 cents include taco shells, cookie mixes, muffin mixes, Hamburger Helper and canned soup.

Let's use our resources and the opportunities we have to save money to help those organizations in our community that help feed the needy among us.
