Purchasing groceries in quantity when you find a great deal will help you save both time and money. Buying more now will save you time later, because you can shop in your pantry instead of at the store. You are buying at rock-bottom prices instead of purchasing out of desperation and being forced to pay whatever the price is that week at the store.
I often see people at the grocery store buying one or two pieces of fruit, a can of soup or one box of cereal. If I find a great deal I buy according to the following criteria: what can my budget handle, do I have room to store the item (or room in my freezer) and how much can I use before the item expires?
If you find a great deal on eggs, buy a month's worth -- or whatever amount you can use before the expiration date. Use that philosophy on not only canned goods and long-term storage items, but cheese, lunch meat, fruit, juice, etc. Using coupons and shopping the sales often allow you to buy two to three times the amount of groceries for less than full price.
